Synopsis

Naofumi Iwatani, an uncharismatic otaku, is summoned to a parallel world as one of the four Cardinal Heroes—the Shield Hero. Lacking offensive power and immediately betrayed by the kingdom that summoned him, he is left penniless and falsely accused. Hardened by spite, he recruits a demi-human slave named Raphtalia and a bird-like monster named Filo to help him fight the "Waves of Catastrophe." Over time, Naofumi transitions from a cynical outcast to a legendary protector, uncovering the dark secrets of the legendary weapons and the worlds beyond.
