Synopsis

Dr. Kenzo Tenma is a brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon working at a prestigious hospital in Düsseldorf, Germany. He has everything: a flourishing career, a beautiful fiancée, and the respect of his peers. However, Tenma becomes disillusioned with the hospital's political bias, where the lives of the wealthy and influential are prioritized over the common people. One night, Tenma chooses to operate on a young boy, Johan Liebert, who was shot in the head, rather than the town's mayor who arrived later. The boy survives, but the mayor dies. Tenma loses his social standing but feels his conscience is clear—until years later, when a string of horrific murders begins. Tenma discovers that the boy he saved has grown into a cold-blooded, charismatic sociopath who is orchestrating a "doomsday" level of chaos. Consumed by guilt for "reviving a monster," Tenma abandons his medical career to hunt down Johan and end the terror he inadvertently helped create.
