A Silent Voice

Synopsis

In elementary school, Shoya Ishida led his class in mercilessly bullying a deaf transfer student, Shoko Nishimiya. When the school finally intervenes, the class turns on Shoya, making him the new target of isolation. Years later, haunted by his past and struggling with severe social anxiety and suicidal thoughts, a high school-aged Shoya sets out on a journey of redemption. He tracks down Shoko to apologize and return her old notebook, leading to a deeply emotional story about forgiveness, mental health, and the struggle to find one's voice.
